Mount Tremper Natural

This creative family of four had a unique design request: an open kitchen/living room large enough to hold big music parties and square dances. Working from the ground up, we sited the house on a secluded 15-acre hillside and created a warm and welcoming atmosphere with post and beam construction from recycled timbers. Natural materials were used throughout, with rustic cedar siding stained in natural finishes, a stone hearth, plank flooring, fresco walls and ceilings, and handmade Mexican tiles in the open-plan kitchen. The south-facing covered porch overlooks a dug pond and a magical view of the mountains. This house caught the eye of a film scout and became the principle location for the independent feature film In Our Nature, starring Mad Men's John Slattery and a very inquisitive bear.
